Who: This class is great for Absolute Beginners and skilled artists, alike. No drawing skills required. The general format of the class will be Explanation (hear it), Demonstration (see it), and Practice (do it), each step of the way.
What: Students are introduced to a variety of soft pastels, pastel papers, blending tools, and other supplies. You'll spend time understanding what soft pastel is, various grades of pastel, how to use and apply it, and what to look for when shopping for your own supplies.
- Students will work with and take home 10 different kinds of pastel papers including Pastelmat, Hahnemuhle Velour, UArt, Canson, and more. ($75 value)
- Students will work with several Soft Pastel stick, pan, & pencil brands, including Schmincke, PanPastel, Faber-Castell, Conte of Paris, and many others.
- Explore both Realistic and Painterly styles.
- Explore Animals, Figure, and Landscapes.
- All supplies are professional-grade and provided for the duration of the workshop.
- Aprons and gloves are available and encouraged.

All-Day Refreshment Buffet provided. Feel free to bring a lunch/snacks.

The workshop is designed to have a collection of unfinished artworks by the end of class. The goal is to understand various supplies and their qualities. Additional, private studio time can be booked, supplies & instruction included, upon request and instructor availability.

- When you may or may not want to "fix" your painting
- We'll work on several exercises throughout the workshop to practice and understand the lessons.
